Calf Feeding?

I know that calves drink their mother's milk, but will they drink any heifer's milk? Like, if I'm planning some precise breeding, and want to toss the lower quality calves into a different field, will they go to any nearby cow and drink?

Yes, they'll drink from any lactating mother or barrel of milk within their radius. I have heard that they always choose the highest quality food to eat that is within their feeding radius. I believe they'll even drink milk from lactating mothers of other species but I'm not 100% sure about this.
