How do I find where I am on the map?

Postby Millitron » Sun Apr 10, 2011 1:23 am

I want to join a specific village. I have the coordinates of that village, so thats not a problem, but I don't know where I am on the map, so I have no idea which way to go. I tried looking at the map algeralith distributed, but I think I'm in one of the uncharted areas. Any ideas how I can get my coordinates so I can know which way to go?

Easiest way would be to party someone from that village and then use that as a compass (don't always focus on the arrow though, it gets out of whack sometimes. Click their portrait picture to head in the right direction).

Otherwise, just explore around your area a bit and try to look for some unique terrain shapes (mountains/lakes are the easiest) and then use that knowledge to meticulously comb through the main map and try to find yourself.

Good luck lol.

The easiest way would be to smash your hearth fire after joining the village. You can teleport directly there. That does require 25 str, though. Otherwise, Cobalt has it right.

Another way if you're haven't accomplished much of anything in way of LP or stats would be just commit suicide and then respawn at one of their hearths.

Look for any odd map edges. The world is 5x5 "supergrids" wide. Each supergrid roughly lines up with another one, but not exactly, and you'll see things like rivers cut in half, mismatched forest types, and swamps that are missing a slice. It's very visible on the minimap. Find one of these edges, especially a corner, and then look on the map along similar rough edges.
