Finding Rabbits

Postby Mannimarco » Sun Apr 10, 2011 3:57 am

Hello there. I've been looking for rabbits for a long time, and I initially found two, used one to make a saw, the other to make a saw for a primitive doll curiosity. I've searched the entire forest so many times, but I can't find any rabbits. I somehow lost my saw. And I'm losing hunger because I can't get a bone to make a hook for fishing.

Why are rabbits so hard to find, and tips of finding them/other ways of getting bones?

Theres no real trick to it, your just having bad luck I guess. Log out and try again in a little while and maybe you'll have better luck.

I've tried many miles of forestry, walking and walking through the forests for around half an hour, for a long distance. I have searched at every time, dozens of times, with no rabbits. I think my area must be overhunted or something.

Are you using the default client? If so, hold the middle mouse button down so you can scroll the camera around and see a bit more area. Also hide the console with the space bar.

I would even more suggest getting one of the custom clients in The Wizards' Tower forum: viewforum.php?f=27. These let you maximize the window and you get a much better view of the area as well as the ability to hide objects or make them see through. When I'm out foraging, I usually quit picking up rabbits because they can be so common. (I've used both Ender's and Gilbertus' clients.)

If you're getting that hungry, eat the spindly taproots you find. No FEPs, but it'll keep you from starving.

I went exploring and found a bunch of chickens, killed 'em all and ate em, got their bones too and made a fishing rod.

Problem is though, my river has no fish, and there is no other river that I know of. Do fish replenish in rivers over time, or is that if there are no fish, there will never be new fish.

Jack your exploration up in the meantime so you can forage blueberries, too.

I have 5 exploration points, which is 5 x 10 = 50 in foraging points.

I find blueberries sometimes, but I'm working my exploration up so I can get seeds for farming.

Don't even think of starting a farm until you have claimed ground with a fence of some sort.

More exploration is good. I recommend 10 expl 10 surv the first thing you put points into. About 5-7 unarmed to make raiding ants easier, too.

You have to wander up and down the rivers and lakes to find where the fish are. They pop up in nodes just like everything else. Once you find a spot, you can expect there to be fish there regularly unless it gets fished out. Nodes can vary by phase of moon and time of day, so you might not always see the same nodes in the same place.

I promise you you'll find a lot of them after you no longer need them =p. It took me 2 hours to find my first rabbit this world, i currently see 4 on my screen
