cat gold? i found it while chipping stone and i have no idea what it is....if anybody could shed some light ty

It's a curiosity. you put it in your study interface and after a while you get lp from it
It's one of the most useless curiosities in the game, despite being "gold".
You randomly get it while mining or chipping stone.

If you looked for what it is inspired from in real life, it's Pyrite, also commonly called fool's gold.

About the only reason you should ever research cat gold is if you have a couple points of attention left and you just can't find anything else to fill it in.
The LP yield is mediocre and the research time is awful.
