Minehole Placement

2 hypothetical situations:

What happens if a minehole is built where the ladder placement would be exactly on top of an unliftable object?
ie: cave level minehole is built directly above a mine support on level 2.

What happens if a minehole is built where there is something occupying the space where the 7x7 space would be?
ie: a cave level minehole is built above a level 2 minehole, not necessarily where the ladder would be but still occupying the space.

I am able to place a signpost for a minehole directly above another minehole. I am able to place blocks in said signpost. I am also able to build into that signpost. When you say it cannot be built, do you mean that something happens upon completing the building? If so, then what?

I do not know for certain because I've never experienced the issue myself, but I believe that at some point along the process an error message stating that "The minehole cannot be built/placed here" is displayed. If it's only on completion of building all the materials into it then that's pretty cruel.

Are you sure you're placing the minehole directly (within the 7x7 area) above an object on the lower level?

Here you can see that the minehole in the cave is 14 tiles north and 4 tiles west of the ladder. Above ground you can see the potential minehole is 14 tiles north and 4 tiles west of the center of the ground level minehole. It has 1 board built into it.

This is the only thing I could find. I was looking for the screenshot (some raiders are building a minehole on the shore of a claim they intend to raid, only to be disallowed by the "object underneath" message). According to that thread, you can build the minehole but once it's built you cannot enter it? That seems strange and wrong.
