Cave entrance to nowhere?

Ok, so I found a cave entrance, went in, and there is no pathway or anything, its all blocked off.
Forgive me if this is a noobish question, but shouldn't there be an actual opening like the cave entrance you can see off to the right in the pic?
Won't let me mine any of the cave walls either (no notice saying not enough strength or anything)

Yes. This is simply an error with the map generation process. Also, since there's already a limitation in place as to how close you can mine to cave entrances, this area is simply inaccessible ever.
