How to track vandalism scent

Postby dirtydog » Mon Apr 11, 2011 12:26 pm

Hello. Well my story is i had 8 silkworms in my house because I caught two moths, woke up and they were all gone, how can I, or someone else track the scent? This same person has been back a few times, unless multiple people in my area can steal... I have Yeomanry and I have my claim up, but people are still stealing, I also have had 5 rope, and at least two glue stolen, I cannot get a wall started.

Thanks in advance for the help

I believe you need the Ranging skill to actually see scents. So start by getting that. Or build a palisade.

How do you build a palisade when constant theft is going on of your palisade mats, that's all i was saying. But its all good.

Keep the mats in your inventory when you sign out

If he is a new player then what is the point of tracking? What is he going to do when he eventually summons the culprits?

Make everything in one go. Most people won't steal bones from you though they will steal bone glue. Same for string -- ropes might disappear but taking 50 string would be annoying. Alternatively, make an alt and stash everything on them.

True, most people won't bother stealing your strings and bones - they'll just take them out of the containers and drop them on the ground to decay.

It's better to make ropes/glues as soon as you have the materials and then store them on alt(s) until you have the amount necessary to start a palisade.

Here's a VERY good tip that I used to use (unfortuanately I didn't do this at the time my camp got DESTROYED by theft). Just make a roundpole fence in your claim, but don't use a gate. Instead just enclose yourself completely in fence and whenever you need to go outside just destroy a piece and rebuild it so they can't get in. If your neighbors have vandalism and can destroy your fence to get in, then maybe you should consider moving or getting help.

So if I can get the mats for a palisade should I still build here, or move on? It only took me two days to get set up with the stuff that was all stolen, im just bummed about the silkworms lol, i thought i finally caught a break. I wish they could have left just two, but I wouldnt have.
