Like if you take so much from it that it shrinks until it is gone.

You can bring soil/water to q10 and clay to the point where you can no longer dig.
However, the node will still recover.

no, they regenerate at the rate of +1q per 8 hours

Really that slow? I've seen regeneration as high as 1point per 2 hours on clay nodes near the top of their quality. Or does it regenerate more quickly the closer to the max it is?
