I thought palisade gates were smaller than fence gates, but that's just a thought.

You problem is that you need ANOTHER pavement in front of the left-side gate/cornerpost. I.E.

XGX

X=Pavement
G=Gate

You have it set up as:

XGX
XG <----Missing an "X"

What exactly do you mean by "Clearance"? If you mean the tiles, they must be 2 tiles inbetween I.E.

CSSC
C=Cornerpost
S=Space

And to an earlier post, only ONE cornerpost must me un-sealed, but if they are both sealed, then I'm sorry

Edit: Heh, I figured out that he/she meant that he/she cannot pave that extra tile in my other post due to the anti-vault update =/

Clearance means how close you can pave to the water.

He can't pave that one tile because of clearance.

a gate is 2 tiles wide, and requires all six tiles (the two in front and behind it) to be paved, but since he is missing one he isn't allowed to do that.
