About Good Quality Water.

Postby Gustyboy » Wed Apr 13, 2011 12:29 am

Hi,

I have a few questions about Water, and finding somehow good quality water.
I've read here or on the wiki that to prospect for good water, I just need to get my waterflask and wander around for a bit, checking the QL of the water every 2 minimap tiles. When I've found something better than 10, I start griding the area to find the node. Ok sounds good. But, does the Water nodes exists in shallow water of rivers/lakes, or is it only by building a Well ?
And to check the QL of a water source that is on ground (found by dowsing), Does I need to build a Well, or is there a way to check the Quality without building the Well ?

Thanks a lot !

Water nodes (like all nodes), exist directly on top of the map layer, however they can only be accessed via certain terrain. A water node might be centralized in the middle of a mudflat, but the only way to access the high q water from that node would be to get it from the nearest river/lake, or search for a well location in the area.

You cannot check the quality of a well's water without actually building the well. However, you can get a good indication of what it'll be if there are other water sources nearby.

I'm extremely emo about this issue actually. I found a water node that was something stupid like 100 tiles wide, the edge of Q11 water went on for at least an entire screen. It would be MASSIVE Q if I found the center.

Center was inland.

... 8 wells later I discover there are no well nodes anywhere near the center.
