How do i discover tea if i am full industry? could I get a farmer friend to help?

Unfortunately you need to harvest it yourself, i would get a farm alt going and let that make the tea

Full industry gets just as many seeds from tea as Full Nature. Just harvest one tile, it seriously doesn't matter given the number of seeds you get anyway.

Doesn't picking dried tea leaves up off an herbalist table count for everything, anyway? The only things tea leaves are needed for requires them to be dried first, anyway. Seems like that's when I got the teapot recipe.

Yep actually. Harvesting the tea won't give you a recipe for tea making because you can't use fresh tea leaves to make tea anyway. They need to be dried first.
