Hearthfireless summoning question

Postby Sevenless » Sat Apr 16, 2011 12:06 am

Theoretical question here. I know some people break their hearth fire and go on random looting sprees around the world after random teleporting. I was just curious: if you get summoned because you're hearthfireless, do you stay in that location the next time you log in if they don't kill you?

I really hate to be giving people ideas here but that sounds... abusable. Free long distance teleportation for someone with a trustworthy village mate and an alt with ranging.

It's been brought up (as a way to immediately amass an army right before a raid) but I don't think any decent solution was thought of.

They should just make it so if u dont have a HF your char never fully logs out, just stays standing where u log him out at. Still a punishment for not having a HF, and not exploitable =)

Would create needless load on the server probably. I was thinking more of having your character be unable to log back in where they "logged out" if they were force teleported. So if you had no hearth fire and got teleported somewhere you'd get random teleported again on login.

Doesn't make sense. What if you were summoned and wanted to log in to defend yourself. Where would you log in at?

Hmm, good point. I can't think of anyway to fix that issue that doesn't either give you the advantage if you were force summoned, or a way to fix it that prevents the abuse we were discussing.

Boo. Oh well, I tried.

The general consensus last time was that it was dangerous for a criminal to destroy his own HF if he had scents out, which acts as a slight drawback. (Although honestly the time between destroying your own HF and getting summoned by your buddy wouldn't leave much for you to actually get summoned by anyone tracking you)

Yeah... it's not good enough. A 30 second window is not dangerous really. The chance that someone would try to force summon you at that exact moment... It just seems too small of a probability for anyone to fear it.
