Tree growth box ?

Postby Gustyboy » Sat Apr 16, 2011 12:34 am

Hi again,

So, I red on the wiki that trees need space to grow.
It is written that each tree needs 5x5 space around it to grow better. So, is it :
a) a 5x5 space and the tree in the middle of it
b) a 10x10 space and the tree in the middle of it

Thanks.

PS : If someone could answer quick, my sprouts are going to die soon ;)

Common thought is that small and medium trees need a 5x5 box (tree in the middle, free space for 2 squares in all direction).

Bigger trees like oaks and pine trees (redwoods) may need 7x7, but it's not really known.

Ok so for Mulberry, apple and maple, 5x5 is enough ^^

Thanks ;)

Oak and maple grow just fine in 5x5.

I can provide screenshot if you want.

Actually, sure fire away. I believe you, I've just never seen anyone bother to grow them lol. And I've run across the rumours on the forums.

Heh, very nice, but doesn't that technically give them a 7x7 area to grow in? Each tree has a paved 3x3 area around it, and a 5x5 area before hitting the next paved zone. But there's a total of 7x7 clear area around all of the trees before they hit a square containing a tree. I'm assuming that it calculates the hitbox thing off the center of an object and not the edge and that tree growth spaces don't interefer with each other.
