Not sure what you mean by "hit something", but the logical continuation would be 90 MM for Ranger Bow.

try closer to 240 mm then with at least a q80 bow.

even then you are aiming at the speed of a q20+ sling with 40mm.

edit: also you'd need q120 ammo for the bow.

The branches and silk will be your best bet for quality, since pretty much all iron ore is q10 and ranger's bows require steel nuggets. Luckily, silk and branch q both come from mullberry trees, so they'll raise more or less together. Still, getting good q30 steel, you'd need... q105 silk and branches to get a q80 bow. However, this will aim as fast as a q13 sling, although it will do a lot of damage when it actually hits. Good for one-shotting foxes and maybe quickly killing a boar, but anything that actually moves will evade you.

it would 1 shot boars easily and with enough perception bears too. oh and its at the speed of a q20 sling, yes its 6 times slower but it allows for a 1.5times as high mm before capping off speed. (meaning rangers bow x 3 = one of the caps on aim speed, as opposed to the x 2 of a sling)

still slow but eh, its something plus the damage is silly, max is 848 + 69 from q120 bone arrows(minimum needed to not cap through ammo) = 917damage. bear has about 800 health and few hearthlings have that much armor.

Unless the hearthling was a total noob, you'd be KO before you even got a shot off against a hearthling.

What does it matter what Q the ore is? The Q of the bar is based on the quality of the bar, smelter, and fuel. I can already get q25 bars out of q10 ore without really putting effort into it. Q80+ bone saw for about q30 boards, q40ish kiln makes q32 charcoal, q40ish smelter--boom, q25ish bars. If you can get better kilns and smelters and boards, the base bar quality is going to go up even higher. There is potential for increasing the quality as you further process the cast iron into steel. Besides, there's a lot more layers to mine on that are going to produce waaay better than q10 ore, and q80 or q90 nodes aren't unheard of on just the first underground layer.

Oh yeah, I mean if you can GET that bow, you can take down anything that stands still for you. The problem is, getting them to stand still. Since arrows ignore the defense bar, you can call a herd of auroch and take them all out in short order, or take out bears from your boat with no problem. It's just, to actually get a bow of that quality...

Oh yeah, I definitely agree there. High quality ranger bows are usually and end game item, anyway.

I will post one condition with my statement above about getting KO'd by a hearthling. If you're in a big village battle and are the archer units, you can shoot at guys in melee and they may never notice the archers in the back until they just lost a huge chunk of hp.
