Died while DC - Need tips

Postby Adhemarr » Sat Apr 16, 2011 1:31 pm

Greetings,

When I´ve connected I have had to see that, for some reason, my main character was dead. I don't really know why - When I DC´d, it was all fine -. I suppose that noone can't do nothing about that, but I'd be gratefull if someone gives me tips on what things should I do and level first. I mean, what should I do first? Level exploration to 10 and camp? Rush something? Keep wandering? What STATS should I try to raise?

I really need help because I'm really lost. Thanks.

If you performed criminal acts (theft and above), people can summon you when they get to your hearthfire.
Doesn't sound like you even had any black skills, though.

Yes, you should get at least 10 exploration initially. 15 might be better, so you can see thorny thistles and stalagooms. You'll also find more WWWs, which you need in the beginning to get your farm going. Any LP you have left over should go into survival and exploration. You'll also need a few points in MM for hunting.
The most important stat in the beginning is INT, so you study more curiosities at the same time. Strength (for mining) and perception are also good to raise.
The most important skill to get in the beginning is yeomanry to protect your place (other than boatbuilding to find said place).

Sounds like he DC'ed and stood around for a bit. Someone could have come by and killed him, or maybe a roaving animal. Stuff like that happens.

Sevenless was right about how you died. Without a friendly ranger nearby to sniff things out, you really can't know.

Expl to 7-10 is good. It'll let you keep fed off blueberries and chantrelles. Get survival up to about 5-10 and then a good 7-10 in unarmed so you can raid ants with ease. For purchasable skills, I try to stick to this order: foraging, hunting, fishing, will to power, plant lore, farming, yeomanry, unarmed combat, animal husbandry, leatherworking. After that, whatever you want to get up in whatever order. (The ones after yeomanry aren't as important in the order.) If you are lucky and starting off with a village, you can put yeomanry off a bit and get whatever skills are going to be most helpful for the village.

If you can, find someone in the area that will mentor you. It'll help learning the game. Also, don't leave anything laying out you can't afford to lose until you can make a personal claim. Anything unclaimed is considered fair game.
