Village idol trading

We are setting up to start trading with our idol . Do we need to wall it in and if so how large of a space do we need to leave?

Assume that a village is a large personal claim. Do as you would to protect yourself, since anyone of marginal power has theft and vandalism. If you fail to secure yourself and broadcast your location, be prepared to suffer losses.

Basically put, when you're village idol trading you're allowing someone to teleport to your village idol. You don't know if it's an alt or if it's a guy with 200 UA.

I'd say leave room for at least a 10x10 around the idol for trading like that. Palisade it just to be safe. People shouldn't normally be teleporting to the idol, that's what hearth fires are for.

Beyond that, I don't really know why people bother to wall it. There's nothing that could happen to an active village that would drop their LP gain fast enough to wipe out their authority as far as I know. But that's why they do it. If village auth drops too fast, the idol becomes vulnerable and can be destroyed. People wall it so it's harder to do that.

if you are setting up for trades and will be doing so regularly, you should pally the idol off, leaving enough space to comforably port and trade, but only keep the gate closed when someone is comeing to visit, this way your villagers can still port when they need without being locked in, and when there is a trade, just use an alt to go inside the pally with the door closed, while the other is still inside, that way if it is a madman he only kills an alt

I think I read something about cliff jumping/wall hopping involving building a building facing a wall/cliff. Something about logging out and back in and it teleports you to the other side if done right.

Can't you just build a two thick wall? I thought that stopped it.

I believe that cliff jumping got fixed in Sunday's update. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=18573

Wall hopping was supposed to have been fixed back when w4 started. There might have been another bug involving this creep in, though.

Very nice, didn't catch that one. Glad to hear the jumping got fixed. Even though it was defensible against, that was dumb to have to do.
