Stone Quality

Postby trondaron » Tue Apr 19, 2011 4:53 pm

I want higher than Q 10 stones. The wiki says I can find them in mountains and as a byproduct of smelting.

So my best bet is to go find a mountain and wander around randomly digging, do they work in nodes on mountains much the way clay etc work? Are there ever rocks in forests that are higher than q10?

I don't see any description of these byproducts from smelting and I have not done it yet. Related info would be great, what determines the Q of the byproduct? How many byproducts(stones?) result from what smelting etc? Feel free to link the wiki if it's just a page I didn't see.

Thanks!

I just tamed my first two cows (at the same time) thanks to this forum, thanks again!

Stones come in nodes like everything else. You can also look in caves by mining on the walls and checking the stones you get.

When smelting ore, you either get a bar or a stone. The stones are a byproduct. The chance of a bar is based on your nature/industry personal beliefs. Quality is determined on the ore, smelter, and fuel: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Ore_Smelter

You could also go look for a high quality node in a mine, if you have decent strength. I found a q40 stone spot while checking for ore nodes this way.

Also, the stone Q of the node carries over to any curios you find when mining.

Clay Q used to build the ore smelter, charcoal Q, ore Q.

Stone hardness has its own node system. Stone Q is independent of this.
