Scents and caves

Postby Ziggyzog » Tue Apr 19, 2011 10:46 pm

When you are in a party, and someone goes in a cave their arrow disapears.

I hate to give bad ideas but what if this happens?

I murder a whole bunch of people, steal their stuff, and then go back to my base in a cave. Could they track me or would the scents not work unless they are underground too?

Scents will work as if you are above ground all the time, but it's not very hard to figure it out when perp/hf is underground.

Some guy stole from me and my scent tracking pointed to a random piece of dirt. I was puzzled, but there was a building post nearby. It was a minehole. Found a brick walled cave entrance nearby.

I assume this means his HF was underground.

You assume correctly.

Ok, well I know a place DEEP in a cave where I want to live, that includes crossing deep water >=)

Would this be a good hiding spot if I decide to be a criminal? I also checked the cave for entrances.

If someone wants to kill you bad enough, they'll just drop a mine hole.

I guess if you're deep enough in a complex enough mine system, they might give up.

With that being said, I think I might dig out a maze for the fun of it.

Sounds cool, but I heard you can't drop mineholes from to surface into caves. My friend says it gives you some sort of message.

That's only if that particular area of the underground layer is already occupied by an object.

Hmmm like what counts as a 'type of object'?

Also lets say I drop a minehole while in my cave. Will it lead to another cavern or will I have to dig things out myself?

A mine hole always leads to the next lower layer (until there are no more layers to go to). If it's on the surface, it goes to layer 1 (L1). If it's on L1 (in a cave), it goes to L2, etc. I forget if there's 5 or 10 layers under the surface total.
