Moon cycle and fishing

Postby Tommassino » Wed Apr 20, 2011 5:07 pm

Hi, I found this neat page on the wiki: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Moon#Phases_of_the_Moo but, i cant get to find out the current moon cycle. Althougth the image in game at night looks a lot like Waning Gibbous but, i was catching in a river, with a woodfish at night and i was catching perches AND roaches. According to the wiki, during waning gibbous you cant catch perches with a woodfish in a river. You cant even catch perches and roaches in a river with a woodfish except during Waning Crescent (i dont know if morning is considered night, but it is possible). But, the moon in game really didnt look like a crescent at all. Since this, im quite confused... how do i find out the moon phase then?

Not sure if you have to have that exact lure to catch it actually. I think it's just fish availability and someone mentioning what lure they had at the time.

In theory the moon phases are distinguishable... but I couldn't tell you reliably which one's which lol.

Ok, so, there is some connection between moon phases and fish caught, but nobody quite knows any solid data about it? Except experiments

That's about it and J&L could have changed it at anytime and there would be almost no way of knowing it. The best you can do is experiment for yourself.

I'm not sure when it changes/how often but I had reliably marked many different fishing combinations to fish. Moon cycle and pretty much every piece on your rod count, giving you tons of variations.

Well, people will fight for perch and roach (being the two fish with +int FEPs). Consider yourself lucky and maybe you can trade with a neighbor.

Why would you want Brill they are the most worthless fish there is. They give Strength and Dex. Dex has no importance to anybody except crafters and crafters rarely need any combat stats (at least not STR). I would gladly trade brill by the chest for any other kind of fish.

i like brills no matter what others say :P

anyways, brills arent so hard to catch. the combos "seem" to be dependent on your area or something, but i havent seen any well-confirmed reports yet on the forums. so this is just my own case and dont completely trust it, but, "woodfish + deep water + fat moon(full/before and after full)" combo always gives me loads of brills, though most baits will get you brills. if you need brills only, then try that combo, maybe avoid sunset, but if not and your fishing spot is decently safe, id suggest you use different baits to fish other kinds as well.
