Some Random Dude at our Farm

Postby mcsproot » Tue Apr 26, 2011 7:21 pm

So I logged on today and there's a random dude in the middle of our farm.

I thought you couldn't go onto other people's claims? My friend who owns the land doesn't recognise him and is paranoid he may be a scout for a raiding party.

That's pretty lame if it is since we're a 3 or so player farm.

Our only wall so far is a fence.

We're finishing the foundations and putting up the wooden wall I can't spell up right now.

Palisade, pali for short. :)

Is your fence completely claimed? Is there a gate he can use? It takes no skills to walk across an open claim. You just have to turn on 'Criminal Acts' in the adventure menu. If any part of the fence is unclaimed, he can just waltz right in.

To be safer, get rid of any gates and just take out a fence section if you need to leave and then rebuild it. It just takes a stick. Then the person needs Vandalism to break down the fence and get in, not just Trespassing to open the gate. The energy expenditure for doing this is almost nothing, even with only 10 str and bare hands. (Besides, burning off a bit of energy is good. Makes you Hungry!)

If you hadn't seen it elsewhere, when you finish your initial palisade cornerpost, make sure you're on as soon as possible after it dries. There are griefers around that will come and seal your CP before you can even start on your pali. You'll then have to build yet another initial CP.

I beleive it's all claimed, within the fence anyway. The pali is being built outside the claim. He's thinking it may also be a newbie who turned on criminal acts and got lost.

It can't be claimed "within the fence." The fence has to be ON the claim. Otherwise, any Joe can walk up, use a gate, break the fence, whatever. Again, it takes no skills to walk onto a claim, only to do anything on that claim, including opening gates.
