Is it possible to accidentally attack someone?

I'm a fairly new player, and today met someone near my claim. He introduced himself, chatted for a moment, and gave me a curio. Minutes later I'm about to head out to go fish when he runs onto my claim, punches me once, runs into my house, runs back out, then races off in my boat.

I think the boat thing was an accident, since he left his behind and it had tons of stuff that is full of stuff far beyond what I could hope to acquire. But the punch confused me. Is it possible to accidentally misclick that? (I can't attack players yet so I can't test it. )

At least give a general idea of where you are (which supergrid if you want to be general, or an actual link to the map if you want to make it easy for rangers) if you want that kind of help.

I'm in the northwest. I was under the impression that it's a good idea not to give out your coords on the forums... am I wrong about this?

Well developed paranoia is a survival skill in this game. But telling which supergrid you are in, (especially since you presumably have little of value) should be pretty safe.

This is true. What little I had he trashed while lying in wait for me to come back from fishing. And lying in wait to see if I made a toon inherit the claim (which I foolishly did ). I'm thinking I may just start over completely from scratch and give up on that claim since I'd only been playing a week. (Not solely based on tonight's events; I'd seen him coming by the claim several times before, but I always got scared and ran inside to log out since he had looked considerably more powerful. I think he'll keep coming around.)

Anyway I was at -103, -51. He killed me inside the house.

For starting over do you recommend looking for going hermit again or looking for a village? I was playing solo mainly to learn the ropes of the game, assuming that villages would want players who know what they're doing. However I'm feeling a little bit soured on the idea of hermiting now.

Lastly, will that claim go away ever if I create an entirely new character and don't choose to inherit the claim? I think he might have had a claim abutting mine and if it'll annoy him I'd like it to stay right where it is.

That's a personal choice, but villages will always be more powerful and more secure than hermits.

The claim won't go away, but he could eliminate it with a village.

Where are you? I didn't realize there were any villages nearby... unless I am misunderstanding what jump means.
