Build a ram, then break the gate/segments.

I'd say that someone used a ram to break a section down and rebuild, but I've a feeling that OP was lazy. Unless you were offline more than a day, there wouldn't be time for a ram to be built and dry to usable.

Also, make sure to drop a claim on that gate so whoever built it and has a key can't use it without black skills. (They most likely have them, anyway.) You'll then be able to try to track them down if you have ranging and at least see where they live

I've made the same mistake, though I'll say it was in a spot where building more wall was more of a hassle than just sealing the CP I put up. (It was deep into a cave.) Given I had alt claimed the other entrances and watched for where anyone might try and tunnel through, I didn't expect anyone to screw with it.

In W3 when I was too lazy to help people I gave them an obvious solution, make 4 characters near you but on the outside (if you have access to dreams and some branches I'm not `sure` if HF spawning through the wall is still possible). When you have guys that are nearby (the other way is to confirm they are nearby by partying and testing moving the arrow around), build these 4 characters up a bit (yeah it'll take some work) until they have enough strength together to operate the ram, so now the only problem is having them (one of them) able to build a ram.

In order to man a ram they need:
(According to Wiki): Soak 25
Ram - 20 Damage
Character with 10 Str - 3 Damage
Character with 10 Str - 3 Damage
Character with 10 Str - 3 Damage
Cahracter with 10 Str - 3 Damage
Total Damage: 20+3+3+3+3 = 32
Meaning that with these 4 characters you will do combined 7 Damage per Tick to the Palisade.
Palisades have 2500 HP and 1 tick is approximatley 1 second, but since you have to drink, eat, etc we'll add it up to 2seconds a tick.
2500 HP*(2Sec/7 Dmg) = 715 Seconds is what it should take you to break it. (12 Minutes approximately)

Assuming it's all right on the wiki anyway. (and rams are still 20 damage)

Starvation is a good answer if you can't destroy your own Hearthfire.
