How do animals spawn?

Postby al » Tue May 10, 2011 10:06 am

Are there any dependences on the time of day or moon, like with fishing?

Does the distance from river, villages, structures, etc have any effect?

Do players trigger spawning (and if there are no players no animals would spawn in an area)?

If animals of some type spawn in an area does it temporarly lower the chances or restrict animals of the same type to spawn in that area?

There are more animals at day than at night. Other than that I just know that animals despawn when there's noone around.

Time of day is debatable. The consensus is animals spawn more frequently during the day.

No.

Yes. Players trigger spawning by moving into the range of a minimap. When that map loads, items that are spawned (animals, forageables) are added. This is why animals that run off can despawn and you can cycle the forageables that appear.

No. I've seen bears and deer at the same time; a bear, foxes, and boars; etc. See answer above.
