Mine Hole UP! But too weak

I was quite excited that I finally got my mine hole built. Then I get in there and get 'this rock is very much too hard for you to mine'. So I grab a bear cloak and bear talisman a friend gave me to buff my strength to mid fifties. I get 'this rock is much too hard for you to mine'.

I'm using a 10 quality stone axe. So will it be better to go full nature and get better trees for a better axe, or eat nothing but pumpkins for the next few months?

Theres lots of picks for sale in Apples and Oranges, and most of those guys will take curios or foragable foods, but keep on with the str foods, and I guess you just got unlucky.. sorry mate

then you have not seen the rocks that can NOT be mined with a q64 tool and 260 str.

Forget pumpkin. Get boar and bear meat.10x better and will get you to 40 str in no time.

Get drunk off your ass. I think it's upwards of +50 str. Also, keep searching. You can find some q30-40+ stones without too much hassle. Trading for a good stone axe (wouldn't trade for one less than q50) or pick axe will significantly help you, too.

Remember: Mining Ability = sqrt (Str * Tool Q). Your ability with that q10 axe is probably only around 20-25 with a bear cloak and talisman (assuming ~40-50 str). Even the alcohol wouldn't help much--27 to 30 (assuming 80-90 w/ full drunk buff).

Also: A stone axe that is significantly higher than a pick axe will let you mine more tiles. Plus, on the softer rocks it will mine just as fast with less stamina drain. (There's a ratio here, but I've not calculated it.)

You can buy a Q50 stone axe fairly cheaply on the forums these days. Pickaxes Q40 or so are pretty cheap, but at least 2-4x the price of that stone axe. That will boost your mining incredibly for your level.

Well I got kinda chewed out for posting on there. I guess it's better ettiquette to search the posts to make sure there is nothing available for sale before advertising to buy?

Certainly, it's not necessary to create a new topic if there are lots of villages who already sell what you want.
Just go through the topics and compare prices, then pick what seems most favorable to you.

I dont want to put you down, but it is quite possible that you wont be able to mine in that minehole for a while. If the message says: 'very too much hard' im quite sure you will need at least 30 of maybe 40 more mining ability (the message changes every 10 or so missing ability i think). Even if you got a q 50 axe, you will need a lot more str to mine there.
I made a similar minehole (first minehole me and my friend did) 2 weeks ago, and I still am not able to mine there
