Civilized vs. Peaceful

Postby cloakblade » Wed May 11, 2011 8:40 pm

Is it better to tell a newbie to push Peaceful or Civilized first?

If they plan on hunting or mining I can easily see peaceful winning out, but excluding that does Civilized help more early on to make sure you can use the best curios?

Comments?

I wonder... peaceful will probably win, but I still wouldn't be surprised if you could gain slightly more by going for civ first (assuming the newbie is in a village and has access to most curios).
It also depends on how quickly one raises INT in the beginning.

Could be interesting to do a simulation on that.

I personally would stay neutral, eat fish, and gradually go barbarism.

I'd say peaceful, but it really is something to reconsider, however two things would help sway my mind:
1)The gain in INT from 10->12(?) from full civ hardly matches the +60% Exp (after multiplied by Change) you get from them using full peaceful. As a beginner you don't have many curios to mess around with and it's pretty important to get the most out of them I'd say.

I didn't have to spend a lot of time reaching 200%+ LP rate just starting out yesterday, since it affects the amount of LP you gain from your early cone cows, dandelions and ant hill raids, as well as your one-time discoveries, peace is looking to be the best option to max first when making a new character, think of it then as "investment" as well as speeding up your process of getting yeomanry down.

personal opinion is Peace then civ. By the time you're done moving peaceful you'll likely have more int to benefit from civ.

I went a little bit Civilization until I got my Int up to around 40, then started moving it back towards neutral. I got Peaceful up first, though. That's going to be a bigger boost to LP than not even getting any bonus from a single slider move. (6% per tick if I recall right.)
