Am I stat farming right?

Postby SpineApple » Thu May 12, 2011 2:19 am

I use up my time ploughing the landscape and making roads, I made a timber house as I hermit and thought it might not look to bad to make a few roads around the local area, I assume though from the exhaustion and my table full of various foods I have on it (particularly from the daily ant hill raids) is how you're supposed to be stat farming, though mining would probably work as well.

I don't have access to high tier foods, but there is a hella big patch of giant pumpkins nearby that's pumping my str and con up over time.

Food diversity is the key. Obviously you're not going to have access to the higher tiered food items early on, but if you eat a mixed diet of foods you'll be gaining stats in no time.

Also, it's often strongly cautioned against letting your FEP stats get too out of sync. The way the game works, the higher one of your stats is, the harder it is to gain any stats. Thus, if you've got 30 STR and only 10 DEX, it'll take you 30 FEP points to gain a single point of DEX. While it is a good idea to keep things balanced, I wouldn't worry too much about it early on. As long as all your stats that you're wanting to up (minus PSY of course) are within 30-50 points of eachother, it's not that hard to catch up once you do have access to higher end foods.

So basically, just keep doing what you're doing and keep things balanced but don't worry too much about getting a point of CON when you've already got 25 CON and only 15 AGI.

Pumpkins are bumping my con up, it's just that I eat a lot of food to with the stamina drain, and I can't really see more HP being a bad thing, but if it means getting any other stat I'm kind of annoyed that there isn't that many other choice foods around, guess I'll have to search for a table's worth of ant food, as perception is something I really want, but can't get.

You should get a farm going. Carrots and peapods both give perception and if your diet mainly consists of things straight off the field and some ants, perception will soon be your highest stat.

This is the easiest way to get seeds. Also look for abandoned claims. I keep one rule: if I farm someone else's land, I make sure to replant it in case they come back.

Farm a lot, work on cows, start making cheese, you'll be fine.

If you get a good deal of cows I'm not sure as a hermit what you would want past Milk Qual/Quan, but I can tell you that it's all `I` care about. Just keep a ton of cows, you need a mine or a cave, you want your area palisaded at the LEAST, brickwalled preferred, and just raising cows and making cheese will keep your stats nice.

The only stat cheese isn't good for is CON, everything else, it's Cheeeeeeeeeeeeese baby. (And the pumpkin pie will do the CON~, or Apple Pies)

They're okay but for some reason Apple Pie is just overpowered. Also Cow Sausage, while you can get it from your cows, you won't get as steady a supply as easily as if you do pumpkin pie or apple pies. Apple pie only requires that you keep some apple trees up, the quality you can raise or not, up to you, they give a healthy amount and only CON. Pumpkin pie will raise quality somewhat inbetween, but requires so little effort to raise the quality it hardly matters, gives some STR instead of CON sometimes. Cow Chorizo is okay but you'll rarely have cows to cut up and it's no time soon that we'll be hitting 100+ meat quantity cows so that one gives you enough food for like ever. CON cheese would be okay but from my experience it takes too damn long and isn't good `enough` to waste your milk on when you could be making cheese that is simply god tier instead.
