How do I fish?

Hello, I am new here and I am sorry if it has already been answered, but I can't find it.

I have a fishing skill, a fishing pole with a line and a hook. I put a worm there as a bait. I even found a water with jumping fish, but I don't know how to start fishing. Everybody says I should choose Adventure -> Fish and then ,,click" on the water. The problem is when I right-click nothing seems to happen, it seems I cancel the Fishing option. When I left-click my character just walks that way and then he says he can't swim. How exactly am I supposed to ,,click" to actually start fishing? I am seriously hungry for some fish

Ok I believe I get it, you can only fish on the shore, like 2 meters in front of you. I was trying to throw the bait to the middle of the river

I for one have never successfully caught fish from the shore. People told me I needed a boat to fish. So I listened and we stole a new boat from neighboring Russians with 5 and then I learned how to fish.

Get boat building whenever you can. Or try to find/steal one like I did

I've never had a problem fishing from the shore. Must be doing something wrong.

I always catch a fish from a shore in about 10 seconds, using worms. When using leeches it's even faster. The wooden fish however sometimes takes even 2 minutes. But you can just leave the character fishing and alt+tab somewhere else , it's good you don't have to reload wooden fishes very often
