Taming the beast?

I understand how the concept of animal husbandry works. But I'm unsure of something... If I'm taming, say, an Auroch, when it 'attacks' me, will that injure/kill me? I mean, will I have to, I dunno, fight back?

If yes to the first question, is there any way to avoid that?

That depends on how much defense and UA you have, If you have a low defense and low UA the auroch probably could break your defense in one hit.

There's a couple of very good guides here that will tell you exactly how to tame animals, even boars, without taking a single hit. I don't have the links handy, but if I recall right, a quick search of "Taming" will bring them both up. One is a bit older, and the other is by TechXKnight.
