mining and industry

does an +5 Industry/farming slider have any effect on the mining itself? and whose industry value will be used by lighting an ore smelter: the value from the one who put the ore into the smelter or the value from the one who klicked on "light"?

mining itself is what industry determines

the smith can be full nature for all you care, there are only 2 things industry does, determine the chance of getting metal from ore at the moment it is MINED. and everything finery forge/wrought iron making related

The industry value determines if you successfully mine or and if the ore you mined will become metal or not. It is dependent on the miner, not the smelter.

Didn't I read something about ind/nat belief having an effect on turning bloom into wrought percentages somewhere? Or was that the way it used to work and got changed? I might have misread something somewhere, too.

Also, can anyone CONFIRM that full ind gets ore faster, not just improved smelting rate? I've heard this a couple of times, but if anyone has confirmed it, it hasn't been added to the wiki.

Its been mentioned a lot but it's difficult to measure something like that reliably. I've gotten ore pretty reliably at full nature in the past while exploratory mining so I'm inclined to say that it's actually irrelevant.

It plays a part in turning cast into bloom successfully and when turning bloom into wrought/cast.

Nobody said full industry mines faster, though full barbarism would (more str). What was said was that full ind gets more ore than full nature, which is what I was questioning. I believe it to be false as it would give a double mining bonus to full industy: extra ore plus increased chance of metal/ore.

I've always been under the impression that it increases the chances when smelting the ore, not the actual chance of getting ore.

nobody said it? this is what i mean.

lets clear this up completely

THIS IS THE ONLY THING INDUSTRY DOES

IT DETERMINES THE % CHANCE ORE HAS TO BECOME A BAR THE MOMENT IT IS MINED.

done, no discussing, just done. (also it increases the chance of wrought from bloom)

The discussion was done four posts ago. No need to go all caps over it. Myself, I'm waiting for one of those that propagate this rumor to step and confirm it with some actual numbers.

Also, nothing about the finery forge is on the wiki under personal beliefs. The Wrought Iron page does mention the percentages are for a neutral character, but nothing about how personal beliefs change the rates. Again, this is something that needs confirmation and approximate percentages. However, I do know that it exists because it's how super-high quality steel was produced in w3.
