Palisade gate

Postby SpineApple » Sun May 15, 2011 9:29 pm

Could I make a palisade gate from the corner of my camp rather than going in to the centre/away from the cornerpost used for the wall?

I want to make at least one less cornerpost, would save time.

This is the traditional box, the X is the starting post. This is what I think you're suggesting?

This works as well, but there's an issue. It makes doubling a brick wall on the outside tougher in the long run. Your gates won't line up without some annoying fiddling.

EDIT: Screw forum formatting. That second line is supposed to line up with the outer edge and I've got better things to do XD

Alternatively, you could also set your initial cornerpost as one of the sides of your gate, and if your palisade is a continuous shape around you'll still only need to use one initial cornerpost.

considering a corner post takes 30 blocks, or the equivalent of just under 3 logs, suck it up and build that extra CP. I'll pay off in the long run.

This is only a temporary settlement so I'm not worried about bricking, I'm planning to join a village eventually after I'm done grinding as a hermit.
