Hurt FEPs

Do these currently have a negative side effect other than the chance you will lose 5 HHP from eating them? From what i've gathered they seem more like a space filler for other attributes that you're trying to raise, please correct me if i'm wrong. (EX: Yellow onion-1 Hurt FEP.)

Don't use hurt FEPs for space fillers. Don't use hurt FEP's at all.

q1 Onions are kind of amazing for reducing the total number of FEPs you need to get stat ups. Lots of people are wary of them but honestly, nothing wagered nothing gained. With odds that stacked in your favor why not? Just don't overdo it with hurt FEPs. All they do is hurt your HHP if you get them.

So if I eat 1 Chantrelle and then a tonne of onions I can still get 1 Dex?

No, he means eating 1 onion per "bar-cycle" is a handy, essentially "free" way of lowering the total fep points the bar needs to fill up, by the diversity-of-diet bonus.

The way FEPs work is that for every new type of food you eat per bar, it lowers the total number of FEPs required to gain a stat.

So lets say you need 25 FEPs to gain 1 stat. You decide to eat 25 q10 Chantrelles for a guaranteed 25 Dex FEPs and you gain 1 Dex. Or, you could eat a five chantrelles, an ant pupua, an ant larvae, an onion, and a blueberry and gain a stat with only ~13 FEPs. This method means that you may not receive the same 1 Dex that you wanted but the odds are greatly stacked in your favor and the total number of resources you consumed is substantial less.

Remember, it is different types of food that matter, not FEP types. You can eat 5 different types of Strength food and it will all reduce the total number of FEPs you require to gain a stat.

By how much does a new food reduce the amount of total feps required? I never figured it out.

There's a formula to it, so I imagine it takes a percentage out of the requirement each time. As for what that formula is, I'm in the same boat as you =)
I've seen Potjeh make mention of it on multiple occasions; it is time to do some research.
