ah, i just had a bit of conversation on this with loftar yesterday on IRC.
he said he had recently made a restoration.
17:05 loftar > Ah yes, there is a recent change on finery forged, though it's not so much a "change" as a restoration.
17:05 loftar > Ever since I remade steelworking, I made it so that quality could only go down in the finery forged, but then I accidently dropped that somewhere along the way, so I just reintroduced it again.

so, you still want to have a higher quality finery forge than your metal quality, but it is not working the same as before.
(a couple of weeks ago, fuel q and forge q were raising the bloom q from cast, but not any more, if i understand correctly.)

Damn. I will have to recheck them but;

FF Q = (Iron + Bricks) / 2
Bloom = (CastIron * 2 + FF + Fuel) / 4

---

It was like that before. Crucs have a formula, but wrought Q acts as hardcap, therefore it only softcaps.
