Should i be?

I found a cave, tossed a claim, explored and found some russian runestones

Cave looks unmined so far

Don't fear them if you can kill them.
If you can't kill them, fear them, they'll kill you without reason if they can.

There are very few exceptions!

Could be some other people using the 'fear' of Russians to scare you off, too. Personally, I'd be more afraid of Goons in a game I'm playing than Russians.

I agree that russians in this game are less friendly than the others, but this should not be exaggerated.

there are as many(or more) english speaking players to be scared as russian speaking players.
ive heard some players make runestones in cyrillic hoping that people would try to avoid them.
you should always be scared - or just alert - of bigger power no matter what language they use.

personally, i had problems with russian players only twice, which would make english speaking players more dangerous to me, if i were to judge others only by the language they use.

Russians have a bad reputation partly because they have had some very destructive groups in the past that have done a lot of damage. Beyond that though, a russian settlement tends to be more... dogged if you've wronged them. They stereotypically will work harder to hurt someone who's wronged them than your average player. The language barriers don't help either.

There's also the issue that sometimes they have connections to other russians who are able to do damage. A group of 20 russians hording down on you is hard to deal with. (They tend to have larger warbands than average I seem to have noticed)

But that tends to be over bigger things than an unclaimed cave. Get a pali up and you should be fine.]

Edit: Wall off the cave seperately from where you're going to live. lvl 1 cave is very easy to mine for a settled player and you'd be an easy raiding target.

Yeah, I wanted to secure large area first, then wall off the cave

I recently moved with very little supplys, just some bone glue and rope so getting more pali materials may take awhile

Keep your hands on your wallet. Alot of them won't hurt you, but they have VERY sticky fingers too.

I would be more worried about those damn flax running around like they own the place. Like what DatOneGuy's signature says, "Around flax, never relax."
