Stack up some toads and then start dropping them down a fairly narrow stream, toads are boat caltrops, may backfire and drop them infront of you sometimes.

There are a few other things to remember on the way. Click to move as little as possible as each time you reroute, you have a short delay that slows you down. Fewer clicks on your part and better navigation help a lot. Call for backup if you can! Get friends, neighbors, and village mates to help you fight if they can and leave boats in strategic positions for you to hop into. If you hop onto land most boat chasers will hop off too and follow you. If you have a boat sitting in ready for you on the other side you're going to get away.

Just like parkour, know your surroundings. Knowing dead-ends and short cuts can mean life or death. Avoid lakes and anywhere that lets the guy behind you cut ahead to take distance. If you know about high density farming areas, hide farmable objects and go through the area. You might be able to get the fools to lagg if you're lucky.

Never give up!

I also have lift and hearth port hotkey'd next to each other, if they didn't engage in combat yet I could probably do the entire combo in a second or two with boat in hands.

Very sound advice there form Teck, you'd be amazed how few people know that (lol AD).

Boat chasing, bot racing is all very easy, just set your screen big, zoom out, check map ahead, and quickly click only the fastest route. Within 3-4 minimaps you should be able to get ahead of most people even trying to bump you back if you use those tactics.
