Trade as a hermit?

Postby Taels » Sun May 22, 2011 7:11 pm

I'm just a humble hermit, but I've been playing a couple weeks and feel like I need metal now. The trouble is, I don't have enough hunting skill to build a village idol.

Are there any tricks for trading without an idol, or getting bear teeth and deer antlers to build an idol without too much hassle?

(I've heard about stoning bears from a boat; does that work on deer?)

Thanks, but...been there and all that. Prospecting didn't find any unclaimed metal nearby, I'm far from the stats recommended to fight deer, and the only neighbor I've found tried to pin me up on his wall.

I'm just hoping to learn a trick I missed. Perhaps I'll go wander the woods in search of four abandoned dead deer...

Sadly for a hermit the only option is neighbours or getting the skills yourself. A priority on leveling MM to 50 and working on your Leather Q as much as possible is your best bet.

The neighbours could help you hunt deer... but yours don't sound friendly.

Any idea where you live? I could easily supply you with some stuff to get you going.

I live in the southwest, but I don't mind travelling. I've heard that the southwest is the least active region.

I wouldn't want freebies, but I have some flotsam and other foraged curios to trade.

Is 50 MM enough to kill deer? That's doable

If you're right next to them you can do it with 40 and a q50+ sling. It only take 3 hits really.
