That rock is much too hard

So I gotta ask, what is the estimated STR increase to get past the different walls of text the games tosses while mining. I have the unfortunate luck of not being able to mine a single time under my minehole. Is there a rough guess on how much is needed based on the text? "Much too hard" "Slightly too hard?"

pickaxe or handaxe * str then square root it

the number you get is the str you mine with, slightly too hard means 1-10 points needed on top of that, much too hard is like 20-30 i think, not sure on the actual numbers.

I'm trying to get the term "Mining Ability" to catch on for the required number to mine a particular tile. ;)
