hey im trying to learn some metal recipes, i have gotten a few copper bars and about 4 wrought iron bars off of my village leader who died, so i turned a copper bar into nuggets then back to a bar. will it be worth it to do the same to the wrought iron or will it just ruin it?

Smelting items into nuggets and bars does not alter their quality or give diminishing returns. 1 Bar converts to 10 Nuggets of the same quality. 10 Nuggets convert to 1 Bar of their average quality.

If you're just going from bar to nugget to bar to unlock the crafting recipes, you're fine. Just make sure you don't have any other nuggets on you to ensure that only the 10 of the same Q will get used.
