Character Died, Any options

Postby untoldpain » Fri May 27, 2011 6:23 pm

Ok my character was killed by a boar I didn't see as I was foraging. I was just getting into having a nice piece of property with a small farm. I had the property under a claim but I had another character as kin but the character cannot do anything with the property.
Is there anything I can do?

Make a new character and inherit your old character's claim.

Make a new character and inherit your previous character's Runestone in the character creation room. You will receive a portion of the total LP you gained with that character depending on your Tradition/Change belief and you will inherit control of the claim your character had. Even if you don't have the Yeomanry skill I believe you can still increase the size of the claim and declaim it and receive the LP back, you just can't make a new claim until you have the Yeomanry skill.

You probably know it but before you do that, don't forget to set a heart secret with your other character. Then talk to the guy in the corner of the creation room after you inherit. You'll spawn at your other character hearth fire.

Edit :

You don't need to do that. If you inherit and then walk up the ladder you'll spawn at the dead character's HF.

A word of advice, makes sure to get leather armor ASAP so you don't get one-shotted by boars. Armor helps reduce damage to you until they break so you at least have a chance of running away. Bears runs too fast for that though but their huge fuzzy ass are not so stealthy.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.
