If you have a male and female in the same pen, they probably already have bred. They go at it pretty quick after being brought together. Give it a few days (rl) and you should soon have little ones running around. Just make sure to keep an eye out for loose livestock. Those vaginas can shoot pretty far.

I've read stories of newborns being launched over palisades. Keep an eye open for that.

This is why I don't build pens near walls. Also, you can prevent the runaways from getting too far if you build a double fence. For the life of me I can't remember the range, though. I'm sure a search on 'vagina cannon' will bring it up, though.

You don't. You just gotta wait and see if they give birth (and hope you spot the baby.)

You really don't need to. If you have a female in a pen with a male for more than a few minutes, the female will be pregnant. The issue comes when you're trying to breed several females at once from the same male. Then it can take a little bit for the male to get them all pregnant.

Recent amusing discovery about breeding. Trade partner was bringing me a female pig because I was too lazy to tame anymore animals. On the way over, a boar came along and uh... I guess you could say my trade partner had to pause while "Sweet Pea" tarnished her reputation with a wild brute.

Now this amuses me because what would happen if I then went and tamed that boar? 50% chance that piglet would be a child of lezdom.

I was unaware of this being possible.
