Caves in mountains

Are there? I have come across many mountains in my travels but I have never seen any cave openings in their cliffs.

loftar mentioned in IRC that he intended to have mountains have more caves than normal.

I've yet to see a cave in a mountain ridge.

Unfortunately caves only appear on normal cliffs, not mountain cliffs. Also, you should note that mountain cliffs are slightly different than others.

Don't know what the point of having more caves in the mountains would be. Considering the generator can't handle multiple entrances to the same system currently, it just causes a bunch of bugging and some really weird formations that are often impossible to mine due to multiple entrances.

just an idea - maybe mountain caves could be +1 level above the regular cave world, as it is on elevated land.

This would mean it's possible to mine 'out of' the mountain. The world isn't that three dimensional at this point.
