Do curiosities decay?

For example, if i catch a lady bug or dragonfly, will it die after a certain amount of time? Or can i hold any curiosity as long as i want and study it whenever?

Nope, as long as you keep them in some form of storage.

only animals that die in inventory are chickens (starve) and moths (short lifespan->mate/die)... and maybe rabbits, but i've never tried to starve a rabbit to death...
