...make my H&H need less resources?

Postby OvShit » Wed Jun 01, 2011 2:07 pm

The problem, to be short, is: game uses my videocard to a maximum so even additional cooling device doesn`t help to prevent overheating. It does not lag, though, but I`m afraid of having my laptop broken. Any ideas on how to make the game less demanding on graphic?

I'm going to make a stab and say this is a Java/OpenGL issue. It could be an issue with drivers. It could be an issue with specific video card settings on your end. Are you using a custom client? If so, better check with the designer of it. You haven't really given anyone enough information to work with.

Well, drivers are up-to-date and settings are by-default, so I guess it`s Java. Other games(even 3D ones) are running fine.
If so, what can I do with it?

I'm pretty sure that a 2D game is NOT maxing out your GPU. You must have a small amount of RAM or a crappy CPU (like me).

Well, I`ve got an integrated GPU, so it can be the reason. Also, it`s not really related to a overheating(or it is? Excuse me in this case)

It's java, and it can be quite heavy when displaying (for example) giant fields of flax, or the claim overlay in Enders.

Yeah, and for the coolness`s sake I`m using simplified view of plants and hiding stuff all the time. But still it heats.
Maybe there is any way to make it even more lighter?

How many settings can you tweak in your video drivers? This would be the first place I try. You might even try underclocking a bit to keep the temps down.

Video cards are all designed differently. Not only that, a 2D interface can use 3D rendering commands. A 2D game that doesn't use any 3D processing can max out parts of a video card.

Yep, H&H is laggier than any other games for me as well, and I mostly play the latest stuff :)
