Quality of Non Inventory Items?

Postby Trav84 » Wed Jun 01, 2011 3:22 pm

Is there any way to tell the quality of something like a tanning tub or kiln without doing the math before hand? With inventory items I know the tooltip will say the quality when you pick it up but I can't seem to figure out if there's a way to identify other qualities.

Thanks

You can plug in items you know the quality of and look at the quality of the items output and use that to reverse engineer the construction's quality.

Example: I've got an unknown tanning tub.

According to the wiki, the formula for leather output by a tanning tub is: (3xHIDE + BARK + WATER + TUB)/6

If I put in all q10 hide/water/bark (easily available), and the tanning tub gives me a q14 piece of leather, then the tanning tub must be q34.

This is hard to use for barrels - it will take a long time to check it's quality that way. We definitely need a way to see constructed items quality.

You cannot check after building. Before you build something recklessly, you should be knowing the quality of all items that go into it, to calculate it.

We do however also need a way to test the quality of non inventory items.

This is definitely not the solution, but hey, what can we do, we've asked a gazillion times.

The q of an object is the mean value of all materials used, I think.

Been suggested many times, including by me. Unfortunately Salem has stolen the dev love.
