Banners and Decay

So a village claim stops decay in its influence radius, do banners?

I could swear I repaired my wall, but there are chunks of it that are covered by banners which have decayed to near death.

Is the area beneath your walls paved? Because that is another condition for buildings to not decay.

Is that condition necessary or sufficient? I'm pretty sure its not the latter... Also isn't it impossible to build walls off of paving?

What about being on a claim? Is that sufficient condition to prevent decay all by itself, or is paving+claimed the only sufficient condition?

It is necessary. Structures have to be both on claimed (pclaim or vclaim) and paved land.

I am actually not sure right now if it is even possible to build walls on unpaved ground since I would never do that. It should be possible though like with every other buildable structure too.

So, does this work for objects like cupboards as well? Because I'd like to put cupboards out in my fields for easy sorting - but I hear they decay ridiculously quickly... If they are claimed and paved under is it perfectly safe?

Cupboards ALWAYS decay outside, because they 'belong' inside.

This goes for other items, too. Anvils, looms, spinning wheels, etc.

I've not seen tables and chairs decay outside, but I haven't left any out that long. Me and my hermit lifestyle doesn't feast around a bonfire much.

Also, cupboards only take one decay hit to pop. Best to use large chests if possible. Otherwise, you see a lot of seasoned players talking about using cupboards for seed sorting and such while farming. I wouldn't trust some of my best quality seeds like that, though.

Thank you for the help with my nub question, it looks like while I wasn't able to log in due to internet issues my authority must have drained so the wall started to rot.

It actually isnt possible anymore so people cant build near the shore with walls
