Soil Quality effecting crops?

Are the quality of the seeds you get effected by the quality of soil you plant them in?

I assume trees now use soil in the treeplanters pot and are effected by the Q of their soil (and seeds and water), but I am unclear if crops that grow out of the ground work that way.

No they are not.

I personally like it that way, as it allows you to have high level crops, which I will have.
