Prospecting in a cave

Postby kerianor » Fri Jun 10, 2011 10:28 pm

So I'm in a cave, prospecting. On this spot it tells me I'm on a tin vein. Does that simply mean that digging There I'll get tin or there's something I didnt understand?

Did it give you the message ''There appears to be Tin below.''?

This means you need to drop a mine hole there and there will be tin below. In order to find out what's in THAT wall, you need to go to the surface and prospect in the same area.

I just dig here and there, 2 to 3 tiles in and have found ore that way, i dont know if this happens everytime, but i've noticed that tiles with ore in dont drop stones, but again, i dont know if thats true for all tiles with ore in or just the ones that i have dug

Prospecting always tells you what's 1 layer below you. If you want to check for metals on your cave without mining the walls, prospect from the exterior, above the cave.

Stone means there is just nothing there, If there is vein in the wall then you will get a 'Ore' pop into your inventory.

If I was you I would explore the cave tunnels more and every now and then mine the wall for ore, If its just stone... then try a different spot, there is bound to be ore in the cave somewhere.
