Eating raw meat good?

Postby Shask » Mon Jun 13, 2011 12:09 am

The wiki states

"FEPs that you need to fill a food bar are reduced for each and every unique food that you eat while filling that FEP bar. The FEPs given by the food do not matter, as long as the type of food if different. For example, if you eat Roasted Fox Meat and Blueberries (both give 1 INT), the bar will still be reduced."

is this out of date? Because this is what's confusing me

Correct, but it's not really worth it because eating raw meat adds a possibility of HHP damage to your FEP bar.

Just find other foods to increase your variety bonus. It's not that hard.

No? Why would it be out of date? What is confusing to you about it?

Have you actually tried it yourself?

I always thought that the FEP reduction was due to eating a diverse range of FEPs, not a diverse range of foods.

I just ate raw perch (gives no FEPs) and the total FEPs needed was not reduced, even though I had eaten a new kind of food..

Sorry, I guess I am sounding a bit stupid. I've just always played thinking that the most important thing is to get a variety of FEPs, but in reality it's a variety of foods, right?

So, for example, if you need 100 FEPs for the next level, and you eat raw rabbit meat (1 hurt FEP), you will only need around, say, 80 FEPs for the next level. Then if you ate a raw yellow onion (1 hurt FEP) you will only need around, say, 70 FEPs for the next level. Is this correct?

Correct. The food diversity bonus works regardless of what FEP you gain from eating the food, but it also only works for foods that give FEPs. If you eat a boar meat and a bear meat your max needed FEPs is decreased, but if you eat a blueberry and a taproot, nothing changes.
