Question about curios such as shocked frog, rabid jackalope

Postby Shask » Mon Jun 13, 2011 8:43 pm

If you drop e.g. a rabid jackalope, and then pick it up again, will it just be a normal rabbit?

I was thinking that someone could e.g. keep dropping a toad until it becomes a shocked frog..

Because if it worked that way there would be an endless supply of shocked frogs and rabid jackalope. Just think about it.

Erm, no there wouldn't. That's like saying there's a huge supply of weird beetroot, because you can farm huge amounts of beetroot.

You can extremely easily bot the dropping and picking up of a single item. You can't (very easily) bot the plowing/planting/growth/harvesting of massive fields of crops. That's a horrible analogy.

Unless you were using an complicated colour-based macro, I don't think so. You would have to be there, watching the screen, very focussed, as the macro would drop the shocked frog too, if you ever got it..

Macros are more sophisticated than that.

Either way, that's an extremely stupid way to implement item rarity like that. The generally accepted theory is that all frogs/dragonflies/bunnies, upon first pickup, are processed by the server for the random chance that they'll be the special item. Once that item is loaded into your inventory it's defined as that item, and if you drop it the server records it as being that item so that when you pick it up again it will always remain the same.

You're free to try out your theory though.

Can put your mind at ease re repetitive frog pick-up/drop... no shocked frog in something like 2.5k repititions... yes botted.

Indeed, you cannot drop/repick up to obtain one.

What were you living under a rock during the era of Arksu? I was, and I still know about it since it was around since W3!
