Building and placing an idol for trading

So obviously village idols are very important for trading, but how have you placed them? Are they palisaded into a little corner by themselves? Do you have signposts next to it for teleporting to certain areas like right outside of the village? Explain your layout and reasoning and maybe include a picture.

If you're going to be trading with some questionable fellows then either just port to them, or make sure the area around your idol is palisaded. It's pretty simple really.

Can you expand on this please? I'm curious. Does it mean once our village is strong enough we shouldn't need a palisade around the idol for trading?

Crossroads to outside your place, give them to friends to trade. Once you get big enough and have the wine output for it.

You're referring to repeat trade partners, right one. Guess we haven't progressed far enough to consistently trade items.
