How to connect from behind locked ports?

Postby buzzard » Mon Jun 20, 2011 11:22 am

Hi to all HaH players!

I have problem to connect to the game, because I have locked ports. It is not a secret I'd like to play at my work and I don't have access to router or any settings.

So.. is there any way to bypass that? Like tunneling ports or proxy or other magic word ("please" to the admin wont work,.. maybe a beer ;) ) ?

I tried to run some applications like SockCap32 and HTTP Tunnel and add the link I created from Java Control Panel...
But it din't work.
Now I see some option in mentioned Java Control Panel > Network Settings .. and maybe there I should look for solution?
But i'm too nubish to figure out.

Can anyone explain if this is possible and give step-by-step tutorial? ....or ... release offline version of the game

what do you mean "locked port"?
are you just behind a restrictive firewall or what?

By "locked port" I would assume port forwarding issues, but after reading this, his work's router must be blocking most URL's, and probally alot of server connection stuff. You could try a proxy server, I guess.

Let's start with which ports this game uses: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4599&p=51508&hilit=port#p51508

You need to tunnel around it. You can tunnel using SSH but you will have to find a SSH server that uses one of your available ports (21 or 80). If you have a computer at home you can setup an SSH client and use port forwarding to get around your work firewall/proxy.
I've had limited success with this in the pass using it in high school so I'm not very sure as to the specifics, but it's worked for me then, but that was forever ago.

Even if I would be able to set it (not enough skill)- there might be a problem to connect it because I think I don't have outside IP at home.
I would have to go around it also somehow... (hamachi??) . I really need a tutorial...
Right now I'm testing Your Freedom ap., but I need to wait for registration process...

And BTW: I do my work at work - it is a matter of self organisation.
